The 1860 $3 Gold Proof 65 in an OLD GREEN HOLDER---Painted in Oil

ARTIST JUDITH LEE FEATURES RARE COINS PAINTED IN OIL

Picture
California artist Judith Lee has become the first to create Oil Paintings of rare U.S. Gold Coins.

This original oil rendering is the 1860 $3 Gold Coin certified Proof 65 by PCGS

Coins are valuable as portable wealth for many different reasons. The first is age/rarity such as the one of a kind Pre-Civil War 1860 $3 Gold piece.  The second reason for value is HIGH GRADE. For example, the $1860 $ Gold piece is the ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD GRADED PROOF 65.

A third reason is rare ERROR. In 1943 due to World War II, pennies were cast in steel by the U.S. Mint---with a few exceptions--the oil painting of a COPPER PENNY in 1943 represents a VERY VALUABLE MISTAKE. It is shown below.

In 1944 the U.S. Mint went back to COPPER PENNIES--but a few STEEL PENNIES DID SNEAK THROUGH the system. These valuable rare pennies were painted in oil by artist Judith Lee whose creations are shown below.
